Converting FAT to NTFS

Warning: Be sure to back up your data prior to performing the file-system conversion. Converting your file system erases all data on the drive prior to the conversion.

To convert your partition from FAT to NTFS, open the command line and

Navigate to the drive you want to edit and type

vol

and press the Enter key on the keyboard. Note the volume name. Next type

convert c: /fs:ntfs

Where c: is the drive letter you want to convert. You may be prompted to type the volume label.

Confirm it and the partition will be reformatted and the file system will be converted.
