Note: Only the Metrix Administrator is able to permanently delete records using the Recycle Bin form. Most users can mark records for deletion, but they will not actually be deleted from the database until the Metrix Administrator has deleted them using this feature. The exception to this rule is records that are part of a custom interaction.

Warning
Custom table records can be permanently deleted directly from the Metrix application by a user. Records that are part of a custom Interaction don't get flagged for deletion and don't appear in the Recycle Bin. To restrict users from deleting records from a custom table, the System Administrator would adjust Permissions settings. See Setting Up Users for more information.

The Recycle Bin form allows the Metrix Administrator to either restore or permanently delete contacts, Interactions, locations, and connections that have been flagged for deletion by a user.

When a user deletes a contact, Interaction, location, or connection, that record is flagged for deletion. The record is not permanently deleted until it 's reviewed by the Metrix Administrator. These records will continue to appear, highlighted in red, until they are permanently deleted by the Metrix Administrator.

Records Marked for Deletion

The following types of records can be marked for deletion by any user:

  • Contact
  • Location
  • Interaction
  • Connection

Records that have been marked for deletion are highlighted in red so that users can easily distinguish their status.

Note
Once a contact is flagged for deletion, all connections, addresses, and interactions are also flagged for deletion and will be displayed on the corresponding tabs in the Recycle Bin.

Permanently Removing Records Flagged for Deletion

Records are permanently deleted from Metrix using the Recycle Bin. Before deleting, we recommended that you view the tabs to see which records have been flagged.

Warning
If you delete a contact record, all related records, such as addresses, Interactions and Connections will also be deleted. If you are deleting a duplicate and want to transfer this data to the contact record you are keeping, please see Working with Duplicate Contact Records.
  1. Press the tab for the type of record you want to delete.

  2. Click the Delete link to the right of the record to delete records one at a time.
  3. If you wish to delete all records listed on the tab, then press Delete All Contacts .
