Note
If you are upgrading from Metrix Server version 1.3 to 1.4 or later, make sure to upgrade to or install the Metrix Client to 1.4 or later as well. Different versions of the Client and Server cannot function together.
  1. If you haven't already done so, download the Metrix Server Upgrade installer from http://metrix.fcny.org.
  2. Launch the installer by double-clicking the downloaded file.
  3. Click Next.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Click Install.

  8. Click Start Wizard.

Configuring the Server Files

  1. Click Next.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Click the Browse... buttons to locate the library files and click Next.
    Default information
    The default file path for the server files is C:\Program Files\fcny\Metrix\Server

Option 1 - Backing Up the Database

This option creates a backup of the database to ensure that you can restore your data in case the upgrade fails.

  1. Make sure the Yes - make a backup of the database now option is selected and click Next.

  2. Select the server, enter your password, select the database to back up and click Next.
    Reminder
    The default password for the sa user name is admin.

    The backup file defaults to a local drive on the server. To change the directory on the local drive, click Save... and choose another directory.

  3. Click Backup.

  4. Click Upgrade.

    Upgrade progress will display.

  5. Click Finish.

Option 2 - Using an Existing Backup

  1. Select No -use an existing backup and click Next.

  2. Click Browse... to select the location where the backup file is stored.

  3. Navigate to the appropriate directory and select the backup file.
  4. Click Open.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Select the server, enter your password, select the database to back up and click Next.

    Reminder
    The default password for the sa user name is admin.

    Upgrade progress will display.

  7. Click Finish.
