Installing and Configuring the Metrix Server

Installing the Metrix Server

1. If you haven't already done so, download the Metrix Server installer from http://metrix.fcny.org.
2. Launch the installer by double-clicking the downloaded file.
3. Click Next.

4. Click Next.

5. Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement option and click Next.

6. Enter your name and organization and click Next.

7. Click Next to keep the default folder destination or click Change to specify a folder.

   The server files, interactsql.adp, reportsql.adp, and the Metrix database, will be installed.
   Now it's time to configure the server files.

Configuring the Metrix Server

1. Click Start Wizard.

2. Click Next.

3. Choose a platform and click Next.

   About SQL server and Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE) You don't need to have SQL Server to install Metrix. Metrix installs MSDE, a free version of SQL Server. For more about MSDE 2000 see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/aa336301.aspx

4. If you kept the default settings during installation, click Next. Otherwise, click Browse and locate the database file and click Next.

5. Type a server name into the Server name field, type admin in the password field, and select a database.
   Optional: Give the database a meaningful name by typing a name in the Database Name field.
6. Click Create db.

7. Locate the interactsql.adp and reportsql.adp files and click Next to connect them to the Metrix database.

8. Select Yes- change the password and enter a new password for the sa user name or
   • select No - Keep the default password to keep the default password, admin, for the sa user name.
9. Click Next.

   Forgetting the changed password If you should change the password for the sa user name and forget it, you'll have to uninstall Metrix and then reinstall it. For information about uninstalling and some common problems, see Troubleshooting Issues for Users and Administrators.

10. Click Finish.
